19 Weeks

Baby's now the size of a mango!
Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil, and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.

Swift Kick In The.... Stomach

Today I was laying on the couch (my favorite thing to do lately it seems) and I felt the baby moving all around. I thought I had been feeling him for the past couple of of weeks but tonight there was no question!! I wasn't sure it would be strong enough for Nick to feel but I figured what the heck, he could try. He put his hand on my belly and the baby instantly kicked his hand and he actually felt it. It was an exciting night for both of us!! Can't wait until December so we can see this cutie!!

How Sweet

Baby's now the size of a sweet potato!
Baby's become amazingly mobile (compared to you, at least), passing the hours yawning, hiccupping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking, and swallowing. And baby is finally big enough that you'll soon be able to feel her movements

17 Weeks

Baby's now the size of an onion!
Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. His umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes now feature one-of-a-kind prints

Spoiled Already

So, we have only known we are having a boy for a little less than 2 weeks and this is what his closet looks like. Grandma Beck, Auntie Kel, Auntie Jen, and Mommy have been busy buying fun little boy stuff!!

16 Weeks

Baby's now the size of an avocado!
Watch what you say...tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean she can now pick up your voice. A few more minuscule changes: Eyebrows, lashes, and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming

IT'S A BOY!!!

We went for an ultrasound to find out the sex of the baby (because I couldn't wait). When we got there the baby would not show the goods and had his legs crossed the entire time. I went to the bathroom and then came back and he had totally switched positions. We finally got a peek between the legs but it was for a real short time. The ultrasound tech told me to cough a few times to see if the baby would turn and that's exactly what he did. We were so excited to find out it was a boy. It's going to be fun having one of each and buying lots of blue instead of pink. Charlotte is excited to have a brother and talks to him daily and kisses my belly.
