27 Weeks

For a baby, it's time to trade in the old crown-to-rump measurement for a new head-to-toe standard. So what are your baby’s stats this week (which, coincidentally, is the end of the second trimester)? Fifteen inches — more than a foot long — and triple (or even quadruple) what it was in week 12. His weight is creeping up the charts as well, coming in at just over two pounds. More big news: Your baby may recognize your voice by now, so feel free to serenade your belly (start learning those lullabies!).

The Day You Will Arrive

Today we had our 1st appointment with Dr. Hage. 26 1/2 weeks into my pregnancy and having not met my Doctor I was getting pretty nervous. I have had one other appointment scheduled with him and he got called into labor. I really like him, he is super nice and relaxed, and I felt really comfortable with him. I can honestly say that I'm glad I switched Doctors!! I told him about my last experience with Charlotte's c-section and how it wasn't the best. He told me that this time will be different and that he will take very good care of me. I sure hope he is right!!

He checked me out and everything is going good with my pregnancy. He measured me and I'm right on track for my due date. We heard the baby's heartbeat and it was fast and strong. Then he told me he had already scheduled my c-section and our Son will be arriving on December 14th, 2011. That means in 87 days from today I will be holding our Son. We can't wait to meet this little guy.

26 Weeks

The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel. If you're having a boy, his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take about two to three days.

A Recent Belly Photo (25 Weeks)

Please excuse the no hair do and make up. I was a little tired when I took these pictures. I figured that if I didn't post them now who knows when I would have posted them! I put some pictures up of when I was pregnant with Charlotte at 25 weeks. I think I'm a little smaller this time around, what do you think? Here I am @ 25 Weeks with Charlotte

25 Weeks

Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. His weight a pound and a half - to two pounds. He's beginning to exchange his long, lean look for some baby fat. As he does, his wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and he'll start to look more and more like a newborn. He's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.
